Richard Scott Martin, a well known resident of Todd Township, died last Thursday, after an illness of about a year, aged 69 years, 6 months and 17 days. He was a lifelong resident of Todd Township, a farmer by occupation, and was a highly esteemed citizen. His death is mourned by many friends. Richard was the son of the late Joseph Martin and Mary Ann (Price) Martin. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife and four children. They are Cloyd of Todd Township; Mrs. Ora Pheasant, of Pogue, and Joseph and Emma, at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Adam Martin of Royer, Blair County; Albert, of near Williamsburg; Frank, of Bruning, Nebraska; Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw, of Hustontown. Sherman Edwards, of Bruning, Nebraska, is a half brother, and Mrs. J. H. Long, of Pleasantville, N.J. and Mrs. C.M. Westbrook, of Huntingdon, are half sisters.
The funeral took place in the M. E. church at Eagle Foundry on Sunday morning, after which interment was made in the Mount Pleasant cemetery. Rev. Troutman officiated at both places. The attendance was very large.
