Raymon Perry was born in the farming community of Randolph, Texas, where his parents, Arthur Raymond and Hazel Perry (Jones)were tenant farmers. It was here, growing up on a farm during the great depression, that Mr. Allen's values would be formed, family, integrity, and independence.
Mr. Allen passed quietly away at his home in Sherman, Texas, with Joyce, his wife of sixty years at his side.

Following his graduation from Randolph H.S. he entered the U.S. Army and served in occupied Germany during WW II where he met his future wife, Joyce Malone, an Army nurse. Perry and Joyce were married July 25, 1947 in Ector, Texas. The couple was blessed with twin sons.

Mr. Allen went on to attend East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce, receiving his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. He would spend the next thirty-seven years in Texas schools, as a band director, principal, and classroom teacher, retiring from Iowa Park in 1985.

Raymon Perry enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Bronson, Missouri, where he and Joyce attended concerts from noted entertainers. He was an avid collector of various items and especially enjoyed model railroading, recreating the town of Randolph in his living and dining rooms.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lane Allen and brother, Billy Ray Allen.

Left to cherish his memories, Mr. Allen is survived by his wife Joyce Allen of Sherman; son Perry Wayne Allen and wife Dawn of Orlando, Florida; and his sister Norma Orrick of Denison, Texas. There are also two grand-daughters, Lauren and Hannah of Orlando, and one great-grandson, Colton, also of Orlando. In addition there are numerous nephews and nieces and family friends.

Pallbearers for Mr. Allen were Larry Orrick, Steve Orrick, Eddie Brown, Gary Brown, Frank Winfrey, Charles Turbyfill and Tony Held.

Funeral services were held at Dannel Funeral Chapel, Sherman, with the Reverend Keith Head of Grace United Methodist church, Sherman officiating.

TAPS

Day is done,
gone the sun
from the lake, from the hill,
from the sky.
All is well, safely rest.
God is nigh.

Thanks and praise for our days
'neat the sun, 'neat the stars,
'neath the sky.
As we go, this we know.
God is nigh.

Then good night, peaceful night,
Till the light of the dawn shineth bright,
God is near, do not fear,
Friend, good night.
