Born in Commerce, Texas the son of Raymon Perry and Joyce (Malone) Allen, Jerry was a graduate of W.F. George High School in Iowa Park, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in English and History, and a Master of Science in English and Speech from East Texas State University. His post graduate studies included Doctoral Study in English, Auburn University. He participated in the Creative Writing Fellowship at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida.
Jerry's teaching experience included: Lewisville High School, Lewisville, Texas, Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, Crowder College, Neosho, Missouri, Valencia Seminole, Daytona Beach Community College, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, and INTI College in Selangor, Malaysia.
Jerry had been a lecturer in the American University Program at INTI College, Selangor, Malaysia. An accomplished lecturer and published writer, Jerry's efforts included copywriting, technical writing, and training manuals. He also orchestrated curriculum programs, study guides, and material for college instruction. His poetry has been published in "Verbal Events" magazine.
Left to cherish his memories, Jerry is survived by his parents of Sherman, Texas; his wife, Nilmaini Allen also of Sherman; his twin brother Perry Wayne Allen of Orlando, Florida; nieces Lauren and Hannah Allen of Orlando; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Kathy Bingman of Grace Methodist Church officiating.
