Came to Oregon on the Oregon Trail in 1847 from Missouri. Before that she lived for many years in Indiana, near Bloomington. She was the midwife for the wagon train. Her son Richard was featured in the trail diary of Absolom Harden. Richard was somewhere in Nebraska when he was killed by a wagon wheel at the age of 8.

Her obituary states that her home was Caleb. Family believes her stone is gone. She died after catching a chill on the way home from Canyon City where she had testified in a murder trial.
