Oscar Fish first came to Hawaii in 1938 to establish local operations for Standard Oil of California. Committed to improving his education, Oscar enrolled in the College of Business Administration's MBA program and was a member of the first MBA graduating class. He later became an executive with Cal-Tex Oil Company and founded the Pan Pacific Financial Corporation.

In 1944, an interest in education brought Rosetta Ramsey to Oahu, where she accepted a teaching position at the University of Hawaii. She met Oscar soon after her arrival, and they were married in 1950.

Although they had no children of their own, Oscar and Rosetta Fish were committed to helping young people and organizations they cared about. Through the Oscar and Rosetta Fish Fund, they have been able to help young aspiring business men and women achieve their dreams.

The Oscar and Rosetta Fish Scholarship for Excellence is an endowed scholarship in memory of Oscar and Rosetta Fish. Nearly $4 million has been contributed for student scholarships through the Hawaii Community Foundation's Oscar and Rosetta Fish Fund, making it the college's largest merit scholarship program to recognize students for outstanding academic achievement.
