Joseph, son of Joannes Georg Lambertus and Maria Eva Stoertz, was born 29 October 1848 in Waterloo, Canada West.

On 16 November 1869, Joseph married Catharine Wagner, daughter of Casper Wagner and Catherine, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Waterloo. They had the following children:

1) Regina Catherine, born 25 August 1870.
2) Simon, born about 1873.
3) Louis Joseph, born 10 February 1874.[2]
4) Maria Catherine, born 22 July 1876.
5) Magdalena, born 30 April 1878.[3] Not on 1881 census.
6) Eleanor, born about 1879. On the 1881 census. Magdalena and Eleanor may be the same person.
7) Othllda Apollonia, born 28 June 1880.
8) Emilia "Emma," born 19 April 1882.

After the death of Catherine Wagner, widower Joseph married Catharine Kramer, daughter of Joseph Kramer and Wilma Segar, on 25 November 1890. They had the following children:

1) Simon, born 22 August 1891.
2) Harvey Albert, born 18 October 1896.

Joseph died from skin cancer on 24 May 1920 in Walkerton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada and is buried at Walkerton Cemetery. The local newspaper reported: "Messrs. John K. Wagner, Simon Wagner, P. A. Wagner Sr. and L. P. Wagner attended the funeral of the late Jos. Lambetus in Walkerton on Wednesday of last week. " (Waterloo Region Record, 3 June 1920, Page 10.)

DISAMBIGUATIONJoseph son of George Lambertus and Maria Eva Stoertz, born 29 October 1848 in Wellesley Township has been conflated with his cousin Joseph, son of Jacob Lambertus and Apollonia Herman, born 25 May 1847 in North Easthope. Both of these births are in the church records of Roman Catholic ministers Lucas Caveng and Ruber Ebner. The death record indicates that the Joseph who died on 24 May 1920 was the son of George (not Jacob). Joseph (age 32), son of Jacob, died on 5 August 1879 in Detroit.
