LESTER C. DAVIS, SR.
Lester C. Davis, ST., born on April 13, 1919 to the union of John and Rebecca Davis in Dixon, MO, went to his heavenly home on March 11, 2002 at the age of 82.
Lester will be remembered by his many beloved family members and friends for his wit and humor. He loved telling jokes, discussing the political stories of the day, and planning fishing trips to the Gasconade River, where ne was born and raised. The family has fond memories of camping on the river in the "old schoolbus," long road trips to Connecticut, and catching "Catfish Elmer." Lester loved taking care of his cows, always had a smile on his face and a laugh in his voice, and enjoyed family gatherings, of which there were many. He was especially proud of his military service during World War II (October 22, 1941 - December 4, 1945) and his association with Machinist Union #9 during his career as a mechanic in Missouri and Illinois and management of The Pit Stop Tire Shop in Springfield, Missouri. His legacy will be carried on for generations to come through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lester is survived by Celia, his wife of 57 years and children, Charlotte and Don Herrod of Springfield, Becky and George Shoemaker of Morrisville, Patricia and Randy Clutter of Strafford, Lester and Rena Davis of Springfield, Debbie and Brad Branson of Springfield, and John Freddy and Eva Davis of Lamar. He will also be missed by 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and three grandchildren.
Goodbye dear Lester - husband, dad, grandpa and friend. Your chair sits empty with your open Bible, but the soul of your life still lingers in the shadows of the rooms. Your happy memories will sustain us in the years to come. God be with you.
