Thomas Franklin Carlton, 92, of Pekin, passed away at 5:48 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2020 at Pekin Manor.

Born November 8, 1927 in Peoria to Ellis and Margaret (Stephenson) Carlton, he married Leona Z. Ellis on August 16, 1947 in Creve Coeur. He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, two sisters and son-in-law Dan Nelson.

Surviving are one daughter, Pamela (Dan) Nelson of Peoria; one granddaughter, Connie (Kevin) Lohmann of Pekin; two great-grandchildren, Trisha Lohmann and Thomas (Savannah) Lohmann; three great-great-grandchildren, Clayton, Hayden and Grayson; two brothers, Earl (Shirley) Carlton of Springfield and Arthur (Pat) Carlton of Peoria and four sisters, Virginia Miller of Manito, Fern Hudson of East Peoria; Margaret of Arizona and Beverly Murphy of Florida.

He was a World War II Navy veteran. Tom retired from Midwest Grain Products in Pekin as a supervisor in 1990 after 10 years of service. He previously worked for American Distilling Company for 32 years and in all had 42 years in the same plant.

He was an all-around sportsman and loved hunting and fishing, especially duck hunting. Tom also enjoyed his annual fishing trips in Wisconsin. He formerly was a bowler and played baseball when he was younger and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was able to enjoy the 2016 World Series win. Tom was a former member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916.

His private graveside service will be held at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. There will be no visitation.
