Gerald "Jerry' Brooke Burton, Sr., 89 of Denver, CO, passed away in Littleton, CO on March 26th from complications of dementia. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Kathryn.

Jerry was born to John and Ina Burton on November 2, 1930 in New Mexico. He graduated from La Junta High School in La Junta, Colorado and Colorado A&M (CSU).

He is survived by sons Brooke Burton and his wife Karen of Highlands Ranch, CO and Bill Burton and his wife Wendy of Los Angeles, CA. In addition to his two sons, Jerry is survived by five grandchildren he loved so much - Kelby and her husband Kurt, Marley and her husband Alex, Thatcher, Connor, and Chase.

Jerry attended high school in La Junta, Colorado where he enjoyed playing on the basketball, track, and football teams. He and his football teammates won back-to-back state championships, as well as, wining the "triple crown" state championships in track, basketball, and football. Jerry was honored to be included on a La Junta High School 'All-Decade' team for the 1940s and the 'All-Time' football team spanning 50 years from the 1920s to the 1970s. After La Junta High School Jerry played football for Colorado A&M.

Jerry and his late wife Kathryn were the proud owners of Denver's Cherry Creek Card and Party Shop for nearly 50 years. Known as "Mr. B" to many customers and staff he would always go the extra mile to make people happy and to feel at home. Jerry's family and friends will always remember his warm smile and even bigger heart. His optimism and spirit seemed to brighten any room. From growing up in small towns to ultimately calling Denver his home he always enjoyed Colorado. He taught his sons to ski in the winter and to enjoy summers in the mountains with unforgettable fun times in a small rustic log cabin in Fraser. In the fall he spent many Sundays in the fifth deck at Mile High with his family cheering on the fledgling Denver Broncos to the many glory days that eventually followed. In the spring he would get his yard and garden ready for warmer days as he enjoyed growing sunflowers and tomatoes. Jerry was blessed to have life-long friends he met in La Junta, Fort Collins, and in Denver.
