Mrs. Bessie Juanita Henry Harper, age 83, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020.
She was born in Difficult, Tennessee, to the late Melvin Lee Henry and Willie Mae Woodard Henry. Mrs. Harper retired from Genesco after 60 years of service as a telecommunications supervisor. She was a longtime member of Inglewood Church of the Nazarene having joined the church in 1949 serving as secretary to the church board and was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. Mrs. Harper loved God and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Harper, and siblings, Michael L. Henry, Larry Henry, Troy Henry, Roger Henry and Ruth Callis McDonald.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her son, Melvin “LeRoy” Harper and his wife, Barbara; granddaughter, Chelsea Nicole Harper; son, Richard “Ricky” Allen Harper; siblings, Kenneth (Barbara) Henry, Barbara Henry Denning (James), Carolyn (Anthony) Bishop, Debi Henry Cook-Rife (Tracy); sister-in law Dorothy Mae Gerding Harper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Hunter Mathis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Inglewood Church of the Nazarene, 3936 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216.
