Born near Auburn, Shawnee Co., KS the son of Orval Henry and Goldie Belle Lister Harden, the fourth of eight children. His brothers and sisters are Homer, Ova, Robert, Wilbur, Loretta, Lola and Marcella. Orval was raised in the Auburn/Rossville/Dover and St. Marys areas. He joined the Army July 9, 1943, serving in 786 Tank Battilion and was wounded in Germany on March 4, 1945 and was discharge December 8, 1945. He was employed by Armco Steel and USD 330, Ed Marlings Furniture. Lived on a farm in Dover/Keene area before returning to Topeka. He attended Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was life time member of the American Legion, Black Jack Post #290 at Saint George. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Mary Bluthardt Harden, three daughters Nancy & Robert Hartman, Sharon & Ron Scott and Peggy Cox all of Topeka,along with six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetary at Flush,Pottawatomie County, Kansas.
