Olin Waddoups Hinton

Hurricane - Olin Waddoups Hinton, 91, passed away December 18, 2021, after a long, full life.

He was born on September 7, 1930, in Hurricane, Utah to Lena Waddoups Hinton and Joseph Hinton.

He married Cherrie Stirling Hinton on November 25, 1950, in Hurricane, Utah, later solemnized in the St. George Temple.

Olin honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Olin was an educated and humble man who worked as Mechanical Design Draftsman for over 30 years at Titanium Metals Corporation in Henderson, Nevada until his retirement in 1986.

Olin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in many callings at the Ward and Stake levels while living in Henderson.

He was a loving husband and father to three boys that he and Cherrie raised in Henderson.

He was a dear grandpa to eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who he cherished greatly.

Olin was a kind and selfless man, always putting the needs of family ahead of his own.

His greatest joy was to see his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren happy.

He was full of life and his kind, gentle disposition made everyone smile.

He is deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

Olin was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cherrie in 2010; his beloved son, Craig Olin in 2019; his mother and father; his brothers: Arvid and Halvor; and his sister, Mary Jane.

He is survived by his sons: Lynn (Lee Ann) Stirling Hinton of Washington, Utah and Scott Hinton of Hurricane, Utah; daughter-in-law, Jennie Hinton of South Jordan, Utah; grandchildren: Derek (Bobbi) Hinton, Ryan (Amanda) Hinton, Nicole (Steve) Jones, Jeffrey (Chrissy) Hinton, Bradley (Daniella) Hinton, Natalie (Ryan) Humpherys, Zachary Hinton, and Samantha (Nic) Hinton; and sisters: Doris Rimington and Lena Jo (Gerald) Turner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 North Main Street, Hurricane, Utah.

A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery, 255 East 600 North.
