Priscilla Dean Miller
August 20, 1934 - April 05, 2020

Priscilla Dean Miller, of Newcastle, passed away on Sunday April 5, 2020 at the age of 85. Many knew her by her nickname "Tillie", given to her by her dad when she was little.

Priscilla Dean Thompson was born August 20, 1934 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Ervin Brown Thompson and Hazel Lucille Mangum Thompson. Priscilla was the oldest of four children. Priscilla grew up in Oklahoma, but also spent several years as a child living in California while her parents worked in the shipyards during WWII. Went to Capitol Hill High School, graduating in 1952. Upon graduation, she attended the Oklahoma College for Women on scholarship.

On August 21, 1954, she married Carroll Eugene Miller and settled in Oklahoma City. Priscilla and Carroll moved to Newcastle and built a house in 1966, raising their five children. Several of their children chose to build their homes on the same piece of property and would often be summoned by hearing "yoo hoo" from her back porch. Priscilla worked as a legal secretary, a Federal court clerk, and a clerk at the US Post office in Newcastle until her retirement in the early '90's. Carroll and Priscilla loved to travel to South Padre in the winter and Colorado in the summer, taking family trips to Lake Murray, and taking Alaskan and Hawaiian cruises. Priscilla was an active church participant since childhood and had been attending Newcastle Freewill Baptist Church since 1998. Priscilla had been an active member of the Silver Saints church group and she went on many trips with the group. She was also a member of the Newcastle Nighttime Quilters Guild. She made many beautiful quilts for family and friends and passed her love of quilting on by teaching daughters and granddaughters.

Priscilla loved spending time with her family and often had one or more of her many grandchildren at her house. She often attended sporting events to cheer on her grandchildren. She loved having family gatherings, eating popcorn, looking at photo albums which she sorted by year, and anything that was purple. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Eugene Miller, parents Brown and Hazel, brother Ervin, sister Cherrie, and grandsons Max Saunders and Carter Miller.

She is survived by:

Phyllis Miller Shaw and husband Craig of Newcastle
