Larry C. Gaunt born February 23, 1948 in Long Land, Missouri to Clifford and Claudia Gaunt. He died August 6, 2007 from injuries sustained in a cycling accident while doing two of the things he loved most in this world…training for the MS150 Bike Tour and spending time with one of his grandchildren. He graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Bradford Gaunt. Larry and Barbara were married on June 4, 1967. They have lived in Lee's Summit for the past 30 years. Larry was retired from A.T.& T. in 1996 and later worked for Aventis, He was currently employed as an IT consultant. Larry had boundless energy and a radiant smile. He was a family man who gathered all his cousins and grandchildren for any occasion to have a party guaranteed to be an event filled with laughter, teasing and love. He leaves a large and sorrowing family. Larry was preceded in death by his father and a brother Derry Neil Gaunt. He was joined in death by his 14 year old granddaughter Sierra E. Gaunt. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, three sons and their families, Brad and Ashleigh of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Timothy and Sheri of Nashua, New Hampshire, Anthony Shannon and Jeanine of Lee's Summit, Missouri. Grandchildren Corey Gaunt, Lauren Gaunt, Benjamin Gaunt, Rhys Gaunt, Chase Gaunt, and Alexa Gaunt, mother Claudia Gaunt of Buffalo, Missouri. Mother and Father-in-law, Don and Ruby Bradford of Buffalo, Missouri. Sister, Christina Wickham of Jefferson City, Missouri, brother and sister-in-law Don and Gayle Gaunt of Strafford, Missouri, and many more friends and loving family members. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an elder of Longview Chapel Christian Church in Lee's Summit and has been a member of the Disciples of Christ for many years. He was very active in the church, serving in many ways. Larry was an avid cyclist riding in 11 consecutive MS 150 Tours, and was always a top fundraiser and early to the finish line. Arrangement are through Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 10 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the Raytown Christian Church in Raytown, MO, and 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd. at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11. Interment will be in the Buckner Hill Cemetery.
