Sierra E. Gaunt was born May 3, 1993, in Kansas City, Mo. She died August 7, 2007, from injuries sustained in a cycling accident. Sierra was joined in death by her grandfather, Larry C. Gaunt of Lee's Summit, Mo. Sierra is survived by her father, Anthony Shannon Gaunt and stepmother Jeanine Swanson of Lee's Summit, her mother Jessica Messina of Pleasant Hill, Mo., and four brothers, Dustin Thompson of Pleasant Hill, Corey Anthony Gaunt, Benjamin Jacob Gaunt, and Chase Gaunt of Lee's Summit, Mo. She is also survived by her grandmother, Barbara Gaunt of Lee's Summit, and uncles, aunts and cousins, Brad and Ashleigh Gaunt, Lauren and Rhys, Timothy and Sheri Gaunt and Alexa. She is also survived by great grandparents Don and Ruby Bradford of Buffalo, Mo., and great grandmother Claudia Gaunt of Buffalo, and many more friends and relatives. Sierra was a beautiful young girl with vibrant blue eyes. She was full of energy and determination and was always dreaming and making plans for her future. She was a member of Longview Chapel Christian Church. Sierra was to be an eighth grader at Pleasant Lea Junior High in Lee's Summit and was active in choir and orchestra. Sierra was just beginning her life and was a typical teenager who loved to talk on the phone and spend time with friends. She loved animals and music and often sang or played special music for her church. She especially enjoyed weekly violin lessons and dinner out with her Grandma Barbara. Sierra's father gave the ultimate gift by permitting his daughter to be an organ donor. Many people will be helped through this tragedy. Arrangements are through Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 10, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the Raytown Christian Church in Raytown, Mo., at 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd., at 10 a.m., on Saturday, August 11. Internment will be in the Buckner Hill Cemetery.
