Mary Nell Cooper Fikes, 80, died suddenly on Monday, January 28, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born December 25, 1938 to the late John Robert and Mildred Howell Waddle. She graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1957. Mary Nell lived most of her life in Fulton after marrying George Cooper. She worked for 52 years at Lanier Clothes in Tupelo. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Fulton. Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday January 31, 2019 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Jarrell, and Bro. Lloyd Minor officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Senter Funeral Home. Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include Mary Nell and George's son, Mark (Paula) Cooper of Tupelo. She also leaves two grandchildren, Liza (Brendan) Zahn of Tupelo, and Lindsey Nell Cooper of Oxford and two great grandchildren, Will and Cavin Zahn of Tupelo. She leaves a sister Sandra (Dan) McGrew of College Grove, TN. A brother, Tommy Waddle of Shannon, brother in law, A.D. Wooldridge of Tupelo, sister in law, Virginia Waddle of Fulton, and many special nieces and nephews. Nell is also survived by her husband, Harold Fikes, who she married on January 11, 2014 and his children, Melanie (Danny) Golding of Belden, Craig (Samantha) Fikes of Tupelo, and Jason Fikes of Nashville. Harold's four grandchildren, Molly Mitchell of Clinton, MS, Claire Golding of Belden,Taylor and Garmon Fikes of Tupelo. Mary Nell was preceded by her parents, previous husband, George W. Cooper, sisters, Elizabeth Wooldridge, Ginny Bohannon, and Maylene Cody, brothers, Jed, Morris, Robin, Jimmy, and John Robert Waddle, Jr. Mary Nell was a quiet, beautiful spirit who faced life's adversities with strength, courage and a deep concern for others. Her love for family, especially her devoted son, Mark was her priority. To her, friends and her family, she will always be remembered as a wonderful cook, famous for her German chocolate cake, biscuits and fried pies.
