FARLEY, Iowa - Dorothy M. Gaul, 96, of Oakcrest Manor, Dyersville, formerly of Farley, died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Oakcrest Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley, with the Rev. Richard G. Gaul officiating and the Rev. Dennis Cain and the Rev. John Ptacek concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of America and St. Joseph's Parish rosary at 4 p.m., and a wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on May 5, 1907, in Dyersville, daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Trenkamp) Recker. She married Cletus N. Gaul on May 26, 1936, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville.

She received her education at St. Francis School, Dyersville. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Farley, its Rosary Society, and the Farley Catholic Daughters of America Presentation Court 1460.

Surviving are three sons, Gilbert (Julie) Gaul, of Farley, and LeRoy (Mary Jane) Gaul and Larry (Linda) Gaul, both of Dyersville; a daughter, Verna (Leon) Vaske, of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Judy Gaul, of Farley; 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law, Ann Recker and Calista Boge, both of Manchester, and Agnes Pasker and Stella Gaul, both of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cletus N. Gaul, on Jan. 13, 2001; a son, Louis Gaul, on Aug. 29, 1998; a grandson, Terry Gaul; a granddaughter, Karen Gaul; two sisters, Agnes Manternach and Marie Pitz; and seven brothers, Alfred, Art, Clarence, Joe, John, Tony and Julius Recker.

A Dorothy M. Gaul Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Dorothy would like to thank the nurses and the entire staff at Oakcrest Manor in Dyersville for all the wonderful care given to Dorothy.
