Anthony was a Patriot of the American Revolution.
According to one source Anthony lived at one time two miles from the Tar River Bridge near Springfield Plantation in Franklin County, North Carolina. Later he seems to have lived nearer Youngsville. In 1790 Anthony Winston bought eight hundred acres of land on both sides of Brandy Creek from Joseph McGehee. In 1778 he conveyed 364 acres of land on Richland Creek to his son Isaac. According to his Will, his son Moses was to get the homeplace after the death of his wife, Mary.
His Will dated November 1786 and proved in June Court 1787 names his wife, Mary; sons John, Isaac, and Moses; daughter Sarah High and son-in-law Robert High.
