Gladys Shipp Stewart 89, of Indianapolis died November 26, 2004. She was born January 15, 1915 in Greenwood, Johnson County, Indiana. Gladys devoted her life to raising her family in a christian atmosphere, which was of utmost importance to her. She was very active in church. In 1988, she was honored at the Ritter Avenue Church of the Nazarene with the "Distinguished Service Award" for her lifetime services. She was a founding board member of the Wesleyan Christian Church, which has grown substantially and is still active today. She has served as Junior Church Director, Vacation Bible School Director and Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and other duties when she was needed. She is survived by sons: Jerry Lee Stewart, David Lynn Stewart and Thomas Ray Stewart; daughters: Elizabeth "Tootey" Louise (Stewart) Richards, Patricia Ann (Stewart) Dennis, Delores Jean (Stewart) Pijut and Deborah Ann (Stewart) Murry; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters: Elizabeth (Shipp) Bailey, Bertha (Shipp) Schetgen, Mable "Betty" (Shipp) Henson amd Marion (Shipp) Green. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Flanner and Buchanan Morturary Washington Park, East, with calling Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial: Washington Park Cemetery, East.
