Leta Shealy Grice went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2020. Born May 3, 1922 to the late Chester and Viola Shealy, Leta was predeceased by her son, Darrell Frye; her husband, C. O. Grice; her brothers, John, Lathan, Lamar, Melvin, and Graham Shealy; and her sisters, Myrtice and Vilette Shealy and Lois Craps. Leta is survived by sisters, Juanita Harmon, Evetta Gleaton, and Olivia Kirkland; and by her brother, Garlyn Shealy. She is also survived by her son, Marion (Judy) Frye; her daughter, Teresa (Ronnie) Waters; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Leta was the last surviving charter member of Twin City Pentecostal Holiness Church (now the Summerland Church), where she served for several decades as a singer, musician, teacher, and mentor. A graveside service will be held in Leta's memory on Friday, March 13, at 2:00 P.M. at the Ridge Crest Memorial Park in Batesburg-Leesville with the Reverend Ray Massey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Summerland Church, P.O. Box 2046, Leesville SC, 29070.
