Samuel Wilson Baugher was born March 10, 1878, in Beldor, the son of the late Lydia Ann Baugher, and the grandson of the late Joseph and Sarah Catherine Shifflett Baugher. He departed this life, May 2, 1958, in Waynesboro, Va.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ann Shifflett, whom he married November 13, 1901, in Rockingham County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Matilda Shifflett, and the granddaughter of the late Kennel and Mary Ann Lawson Shifflett. He was also preceded in death by a son, Herbert Baugher.

He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Nora Baugher, of Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Virginia Ridenour, of Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Florence Wyant, of Waynesboro, Va.; Mrs. Mabel House, of Elkton, Va.; and Mrs. Agnes Louderback, of Shenandoah, Va.; and three sons, Edward Baugher, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Russell Baugher and Randolph Baugher, both of Elkton, Va.; twin sister, Mrs. Cora Pownall, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 4, 1958, at 3:00 p.m., at the Brill Funeral Home Chapel. Ministers officiating were the Rev. Don Fridinger and Rev. Ennis Dean, with interment in Elk Run Cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by the Jr. O.U.A.M. No. 149.
