Virginia Beach - Evelyn J."Mamaw" Burket, 77, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013. She was born in Chesapeake, VA, and was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Burket, Sr. Evelyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She never knew a stranger and was a neighbor to everyone. After raising her children, she worked and ultimately retired from the Virginia Beach Public School's Cafeteria.
Left to cherish Evelyn's memory: children, Gina Miles (Craig), William Burket Jr. (Jane), Joseph Burket (Linda), David Burket (Sharon), Todd Burket (Bunnie); ten grandchildren, Shannon, Eric, Billy, Michael, Daniel, Craig Jr., Marlon, Halie, Savanna and Logan; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Gladys Spence, Doris Spence, Helen Stallings, Mary Jane Rich and Norma Wassman; and a host of extended relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 in the funeral home chapel.
