Oscar was the second of nine children born to Frank M. Anderson and his wife, Delilah A. Keath. Oscar married Alma R. Shonkwiler a daughter of Valentine John Edward Shonkwiler and his wife, Cora Alice Blakely. Oscar and Alma celebrated their nuptials on November 29, 1911 in Woodland (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had five children, three sons and two daughters. Oscar was a truck driver early in his adulthood and became a skilled carpenter. In his later years, Oscar had bee hives. He sold the honey in the local area, around Woodland.
