C.T. (Uncle Cart) Hankins, 93, of 1116 East Seventh, died at his home Saturday afternoon after a long illness. Mr. Hankins was a retired farmer and cotton buyer.
He was born in Cleveland County near Glendale on Dec. 30, 1869, son of William and Martha Albright Hankins. He was reared in Cleveland County and attended school there. He lived all his life near Pine Bluff. He moved to Pine Bluff 25 years ago.
Mr. Hankins was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
Mr. Hankins was married, April 12, 1888, to the former Katie Reed who died here Aug 6, 1961, the same year in which she and Mr. Hankins were honored as the couple married longest in the state.
Survivors include four sons, Jewel Hankins of New Orleans, La, and Guy F Hankins, Marcus Hankins and Ira Hankins of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Mrs. Stella Cearley of Sheridan; 25 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary by Rev Clyde Cutrell, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church and Rev George Pirtle, pastor of Second Baptist Church.
