Lucy Loretta Clanton Gilbert, 75, of Roanoke (formerly of Bassett) died Oct. 9, 2007, in Roanoke. She was born in Martinsville on July 30, 1932, to Luther Clanton and Ida Prillaman Clanton. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ida Mae Hairston; a brother, Joe Hall.
She worked for Bassett-Walker Knitting Co. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Percy A. Gilbert; four daughters, Eunice M. Trotter, Vanessa A. Gilbert, Janet Carlean Jones and Lorrie D. Via; four sons, David A. Gilbert, Percy A. Gilbert Jr., Timothy W. Gilbert and Charles L. Gilbert; 12 grandchildren.
Burial will be in Carver memorial Gardens.
