The death of Nora Emma Kennedy, a 73 year old Fairfax woman, was caused by suffocation from smoke an autopsy showed, said Coroner Frank Keaton today.
Miss Kennedy died in a fire Thursday night which destroyed her tiny cottage at 33 Acacia in Fairfax. She had lived there approximately 10 years. She was a native of San Francisco.
Miss Kennedy's brother, Thomas Kennedy of Bloomingburg, NY, said she had not been an Olympic swimming star as reported earlier. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Dr. Josephine Kennedy Young of Urbana, IL, and Miss Caroline Kennedy, now in a California hospital, and a niece, Mrs. Caroline Gold Forrest who lives in the southern United States.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton's Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
