Death of Old Resident
Francis Sobraro Passes Away at Windsor, ONT.

Was an ex-sheriff of Chippewa County and at one time a Large Real Estate Owner

Francis Sobraro, formerly a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Pratt, in Windsor. Death was due to senile decay.

About four years ago, Mr. Sobraro left the Soo and made his home in Windsor. In the early days of the county, he served several terms as sheriff and is remembered as a man of sterling character. He was the father of Mrs. Peter Launderville, of Portage avenue. Mrs. Esther Peacock and Mrs. Maria Vernon of Chicago are also daughters. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Sobraro was born in Winnipeg, but when a boy came to the United States. He served in the civil war in Company G, First Regiment, United States Lancers. During the course of strife, he served in many hard fought battles. The coat he wore when mustered out of the service was preserved in later years, and at his request, it went with him to the grave.

While a resident of this city he handled large amounts of real estate and was recognized as one of the leading business men of his day. Much of the valuable property in the down town district was at one time owned by Mr. Sobraro.
