Mrs. Esther Peacock 82 years old, a Chicago resident for 76 years, died yesterday at her home 1839 South Troy street. Her husband, Elijah Peacock, who died 15 years ago, established the metal manufacturing concern at 115 South Clinton street and was a cousin of C. D. Peacock, founder of Chicago's oldest jewelry firm.
For five years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Peacock resided above the first Peacock jewelry store at Randolph and Franklin streets.
Following the Chicago fire, Mrs. Peacock for three days and nights worked without rest dispensing food and water in a north side Congregational church which was one of the few buildings left standing in that neighborhood.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m. in the home. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery. Mrs. Peacock is survived by a son, Fred E. Peacock, and two daughters, Miss Ada F. Peacock, and Mrs. Ella J. Tucker.
