Mrs. Gardner was born April 27, 1929 in Mecklenburg County and was the daughter of the late Claude and Etta Jane Worthy Bostic. She was a retired waitress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Ray Mills, Sr. and Sheilds Gardner, as well as 14 siblings.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her children, Linda Decatur and husband, Pete, Charles Ray Mills, Jr. and wife, Gail, Tim Mills and Bradley Mills; sister, Betty McManus; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
