Oliver G. Beemer 78 of rural Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Oliver was born April 24, 1939 in Hayes Township, Clare County, the son of Arthur and Thressia Cleo (Bailey) Beemer. Mr. Beemer was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ms. Joyce Orpha Ecklin on October 1, 1960 at Long Lake Chapel, Harrison.

Oliver moved to Flint area in 1961, when he began work at Chevrolet Metal Fabrication of Flint. In 1991, Oliver retired and moved back to his beloved Harrison, where he spent his retirement years riding motorcycles, tinkering, farming, operating his tractors and skid steer, and passionately raised and cared for: Cattle, Horses, Elk, Beefalo, from time to time Goats, Chickens and other animals. Oliver was known to frequent many auctions, garage and yard sales where he could not let a “good deal” pass. Oliver also owned and operated Olivers Storage of Dodge City, Michigan. Mr. Beemer was a member and past Worshipful Master of John J. Carton Lodge #436 F. & A.M. of Harrison, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235 of Harrison and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3541 also of Harrison.

Surviving Mr. Beemer is his loving wife and best friend of fifty-six years, Mrs. Joyce O. Beemer of Harrison, three sons; David A. Beemer and wife Suzanne of Gurnee, Illinois, Daniel C. Beemer of Harrison and Robin O. Beemer and wife Starla of Swartz Creek, Michigan, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers; Bill Beemer and wife Toni of Harrison and Fred Beemer and wife Diane also of Harrison, two sisters in law; Mary Beemer of Harrison and Nola Hopkins and husband Buddy Signs of Harrison, one brother in law, Richard Ecklin and wife Elaine of Harrison, plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Wilcox and three brothers; Charles Beemer, Arthur Duane Beemer and Phil Beemer.

Funeral services celebrating Oliver will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Elder Joyce O. Beemer. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison.
