Phil, 82, of Harrison passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at: The Horizon Senior Living facility of Gladwin, Michigan. Phil was a life time resident of Harrison, and was known throughout the community. Phil was born in Harrison, the son of Arthur and Thressia “Tress” (Bailey) Beemer.

Phil was always one for socializing among the many locals. He loved playing cards, hunting and fishing, and showing the children how to fly kites, ride bikes, swimming, and enjoying life to the hilt.

He worked hard all his life, beginning in his early teens as a laborer, and went on to become a “derrick hand” and driller in the oilfields. He spent several years as an iron-worker, and his latter years in real estate, retiring in his ‘50’s.

In 1957, he married Mary J. Melidosian, from Belleville, Michigan, the love of his life, and she survives him. Also surviving him are his seven children: Fred Beemer (Stephanie) and Phillis Masters of High Springs, Flroida, Charlie (Dawn) Beemer of Munger, Michigan, Katherine (Scott) Reynolds of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Kristine Lasker of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, Susan (Dennis) Strefling of Bay City, Michigan and Karl (Celeste) Beemer of Corunna, Michigan, Phil’s three brothers: Oliver (Joyce) Beemer, Bill (Toni) Beemer and Fred (Diane) Beemer all from Harrson.

Among the many he leaves behind are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous relatives and friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Arthur D. Beemer and Charles O. Beemer, one sister, Donna Lee Wilcox and two granddaughters: Jennifer Lasker and Kimberly Beemer.

All his life, Phil claimed he was “a very lucky man.” He felt life was very good to him and embraced it fully without any complaint.

Mr. Beemers wishes for cremation have been honored. A Celebration of Life service for Phil was held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from the Community of Christ Church, Harrison.
