According to her Social Security Applications and Claim Index record, Eula is the daughter of Henry and Florence (Smith) Smith.
A marriage record exists out of Cherokee County dated September 1, 1899 for Florence Smith and Henry Smith. This is the last record I can locate for Henry Smith.
In 1880 census, Florence is 5 months old living with her parents, Hiram and Nancy. In 1900 census she is listed with Hiram but Nancy died in 1898; her son, Ben F. Smith is listed as grandson of Hiram. In the 1910 Census, she is also shown as listed with her father and her son, Ben. F. Smith, who is listed as son of Hiram. She is listed as divorced. If Florence married Henry Smith in Sept. 1899 by 1910 she is divorced, unlikely that Henry could be father of Eula who was born in 1918. In the 1920 Census, she is listed as wife of Hiram M.Smith, age 65, who is known to be her father. This is the Census where her children, John, age 5, and Eula, age 1, are listed. This is the first Census that lists Hiram as Hiram M. Smith. Her father is listed as Hiram Russell Smith in Census documents and on his obituary and death certificate. His grave marker has M. H. Smith "Father" with Florence and her brother, Glenn, buried on both sides of Hiram. No record of the name with first letter "M" has been found and any relatives who would know have long ago died. Eula's only children, two daughters, were in her second marriage to Jim Norwood, with whom she is buried. Eula is my great aunt, my dad's paternal aunt, and I visited with her and Jim when I was very young. I remember the daughters but have no memory of their names and no means to identify or locate them.
