Ben married first Pearl Atwood and had 3 children: James William Franklin Smith, Harold Thomas Smith and Paul Atwood Smith. After Pearl's death, he married 2nd Arizona Scoggins who bore Ben 3 more children: Margie Lee Smith, Cecil David Smith and Lois Ann Smith. Paul & Harold left the home after Ben died 19 April 1940. The 1940 Federal Census for Ben & family is 26 April 1940 so he died shortly after this census was recorded. Paul was about 14 yrs. old when he traveled to Florida for a while working as a picker for local growers, then walked north to Boston, Massachusetts, married & had 5 children. He died July 25, 1963, when he fell from a truck with a fatal wound to his head, near Duluth, Minnesota, while working as a logger; no record of burial site.
