In the 1991 census the family are living at 73 Bridge street, Folkestone, Ernest is a scholar, his father a widower, Martha had died in 1887. By 1911 Ernest is a 28-year old fishmonger living with his brother John at 56 Dudley Road.
Ernest married Annie Gower in the March quarter 1914 in the registration district of Elham. Seven children were found for the couple. Bertha G Goddard 1914. Percy E 1917, Mabel G 1918, Sylvia J 1921, Olive M 1923, Raymond J 1925 and Ernest F 1927.
Ernest Goddard, a fishmonger, died aged 57 years on April 20th 1939. The place of death is given as, on the highway, Warren Road, Folkestone and the place from which the body was brought 1, Dover Road. Ernest was buried on April 26th 1939.
