Annie Elizabeth Gower was born in 1894 her birth is registered in Elham in the September quarter. In the 1901 census she is living at The Three Bells Inn, Swingfield with her parents Thomas and Annie S Gower, Thomas is a licensed victualler. Also, in the home are Annie's older siblings Mary and William. In 1911 Annie is a servant in a boarding house in Folkestone, in both censuses her place of birth is stated to be Swingfield.
Annie Gower married Ernest Goddard (the son of Edmund Goddard who came to Kent from Shaftsbury in Dorset), in the March quarter 1914 in the registration district of Elham. Seven children were found for the couple. Bertha G Goddard 1914. Percy E 1917, Mabel G 1918, Sylvia J 1921, Olive M 1923, Raymond J 1925 and Ernest Frank 1927.
Sadly, Annie died on the 25th March 1927 aged 33 years at the time of the birth of her son Ernest Frank Goddard . Ernest Frank lived for only a month dying on the 25 April 1927.
