Addie Mae Marshall Lewis of Hillsville went to be with her Lord on Wednesday morning, July 18, 2007. She was born to Charlie and Virginia Wright Marshall on May 24, 1917. Addie had a great love for her Lord, family and friends. She was an active member of Island Creek Methodist Church for many years. She loved to garden, knit, and was one of the best homemade bread maker's in Carroll County. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Mavan Hall Lewis; daughter, Linda Lee Lewis Huff; son, Stanley Ray Lewis; grandson, Scott Eric Lewis; and great-grandson, Austin Bailey McCreary. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ivan Edwards of Hillsville, Jeanette and Don McCreary of Marietta, Ga., and Ruth and Clint McCain of Independence; sons and daughters-in-law, Preston and Diane Lewis of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Gary and Alice Lewis of Milford, Del., and John and Sandra Lewis of Meadows of Dan. She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Marshall Montgomery of Hillsville; brothers, Payne Marshall of Kingsport, Tenn. and John Granville Marshall of Pulaski; twenty grandchildren; and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 6 p.m. at Island Creek Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Neese officiating. A sunset burial will follow in the Marshall/Lewis Memory Gardens in Sylvatus, Va. Family visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Island Creek Methodist Church, c/o Bob Snow 281 Worrell Estates, Hillsville, VA 24343 or to Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106, Galax, VA 24333. The family would also like to thank the many loving hands and friends that cared for our mother at Golden Living Center Blue Ridge and Twin County Hospice in Galax, VA; also Dr. Butler, Dr. Fant and Dr. Lazo. Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
