Harvey Harris was one of a family of seventeen children, five of whom were preachers of their fathers faith who was Rev. William Harris, born in Northern Ireland of Scottish-Irish descent & married in Ireland before emmigrating to Virginia, North America then later to Kentucky where Harvey was born. Harvey first married nee Mary Neal & had one child named James Monroe Harris, who went to California & who's whereabouts are unknown. Harvey's first wife Mary, died September 12, 1835 & in 1836 he married his second wife Miss Sarah I.T. Skiles, daughter of Henry & Elizabeth (Hamilton) Skiles, who were natives of Virginia but moved to Kentucky & there they died. Sarah Skiles was born January 19th 1818. Harvey & Sarah's son, Captain William H. Harris, was born in Simpson County, Kentucky on January 1, 1838. Sarah was living with her son at the time the book "Memorial and Biographical History of Dallas County, Texas...." was published in 1892. This book has Captain William H. Harris's biography in it, in FULL, as I have extracted this information from it. Harvey & Sarah had one other child Nancy E. Harris, born August 23, 1839 & died August 6, 1847. Harvey Harris was a farmer his whole life.
