NEW ALBANY – Wayne A. Wirey, 86, of Green Valley Convalescent Center, died Wednesday at Floyd Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Franklin, a retired salesman for the old Trunnell & Barr Appliance Co., an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the old Calumet Club.

Survivors include a stepson, Claude Bradley, and a sister, Sophia Beaman of Franklin.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dieckmann Funeral Home with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Wayne A. Wirey, 86, died Wednesday at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was a resident of New Albany. He was a former resident of Franklin.

He was born Oct. 17, 1905, in Franklin. His parents were Lon and Sadie (Coy) Wirey. He was married to Mary (Harmon) Bradley Wirey. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a sister, Sophia Beaman of Franklin; and a stepson, Claude Bradley of New Albany. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Alta Marie Wirey; and two brothers, the Rev. Carl O. Wirey and Dallas O. Wirey.

He graduated from Franklin High School and attended Franklin College.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

The Rev. Wilson Watres will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Friday at Bieckmann Funeral Home in New Albany. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in New Albany.
