FRANKLIN – Sophia Mae Beaman

Sophia Mae Beaman, 94, died Monday at Franklin United Methodist Home. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born March 4, 1900, in Brown County. Her parents were Alonzo Albert Wirey and Sara Elizabeth (Coy) Wirey. She married Herbert W. Beaman March 31, 1929, in Johnson County. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1993. Survivors include a son, Marvin Beaman of Franklin; two daughters, Marilyn Kerner and Phyllis Baker; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Carl Wirey, Dallas Wirey and Wayne Wirey; and a sister, Alta Marie Wirey.

She graduated from Franklin High School and Winona Lake Normal College.

She was a homemaker and farmer with her late husband.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Martha Circle, Gleaners Sunday School class and Franklin United Methodist Women group of the church, Zeta Psi sorority, and Johnson County Farm Bureau. She was past president of Union Community Extension Home Economic Club.

The Rev. J. Wesley Hertel will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wright Memorial Chapel at Franklin United Methodist Home. Friends may call from noon to time of service Thursday in the chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin United Methodist Home, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, Ind. 46131.

SOPHIA MAE BEAMAN, FRANKLIN

Word has been received here of the death of Sophia Mae Beaman, 94, of Franklin. She died Monday, Oct. 10, 1994, at Franklin United Methodist Home.

She was a 1920 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Winona Lake Normal College. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Martha Circle, Gleaners Sunday school class, Franklin United Methodist Women, Zeta Psi sorority and Johnson County Farm Bureau. She also was past president of Union Community Extension Home Ec. Club.

Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wright Memorial Chapel at Franklin United Methodist Home, with the Rev. J. Wesley Hertel officiating. Calling will be from noon until service time Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
