THOMAS MCKEE
(1901-1957)

Thomas McKee, 55, a coal miner at Hardy, Ky., most of his life, died during major surgery in the hospital at Williamson, W.Va.

Mr. McKee, brother of Henry McKee, Hilltop barber and resident of 2106 Sunrise Ave., had been living in Chicago for two years, where he found work after Norfolk & Western Railway coal mine work at Hardy was curtailed.

Unable to get into a Chicago hospital for two weeks, Mr. McKee returned to Williamson for immediate surgery.

He was born in Allen, Ky., Sept. 27, 1901, a son of David and Mattie Stevens McKee. In addition to his wife, Gladys Parker McKee, he is survived by four children, Earnest, Lucille, Jean and David, all of Chicago; two brothers, Henry of this city and Able of Waterford, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. R.M. Davis of Zebulon, Ky., and Mrs. Cora Maynard of Pikeville, Ky.; and a grandchild.

Mr. McKee, who was a member of the Church of Christ, had visited relatives here in recent years.

Burial was in Scott cemetery at Hardy.
