Married Barbara O. Mitchell on October 7, 1949 in Marion County, Indiana and they were the parents of Edward Wirey, Kathryn A. (Wirey) Adams, Martha (Wirey) Adams, Timothy Wirey, Jeffrey Wirey, and Kenneth Wirey.

Wendell W. Wirey 77, of Bradenton, Florida and formerly of Poland, Indiana, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006. He was the oldest son of Floyd and Margaret Wirey.

He graduated from Trafalgar High School, where be was active in the 4-H and basketball.

Wendell was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the KWVA Post 199 in Bradenton and a member of the VFW Post 5864 in Greenwood, Indiana. He was a member of the Midway Church of Christ. Wendell worked at Wright-Bachman Lumber Company for seventeen years in Indianapolis and at Davidson Industries for twenty-three years in Franklin, Indiana before retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Barbara; sons, Edward, Timothy, Jeffrey and Kenneth; daughters, Kathryn Adams and Martha Adams; sister, Delores Bowling Grinkmeyer; brother, Arthur Wirey; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Sunday, February 26, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens where military graveside rites will be conducted.

Wendell W. Wirey, 77, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Poland, Ind., died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006. He was the oldest son of Floyd and Margaret Wirey.

Wendell was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Post 199 in Bradenton, Fla., and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864 in Greenwood. He was a member of Midway Church of Christ.

Wendell worked at Wright-Bachman Lumber Co. in Indianapolis for 17 years and at Davidson Industries in Franklin for 23 years before retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; four sons, Edward, Timothy, Jeffrey and Kenneth; two daughters, Kathryn Adams and Martha Adams; a sister, Delores Bowling Grinkmeyer; a brother, Arthur Wirey; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
