Aged Lady passes away
Former resident of St Helena dies in Oakland home
Mrs Ella G Anderson for many years a resident of St Helena, but, who for the past few years has made her home in Oakland, with her daughter Mrs Ira A Caughey, passed from this life last Friday at noon.
About 9'oclock of the evening of Jan 26th, Mrs Anderson was on the way from a religious meeting she had been attending to the home of her daughter at 1833 Twelfh avenue. When at the corner of 9th and Washington streets she was knocked down by an automobile and her right leg broken. She was taken to a hospital and given every attention but pneumonia developed and she passed away at the noon hour on February 4th.
Mrs Ella G Anderson was the widow of the late A V Anderson. Her maiden name was Mills and she was born in Ottawa, ILL - 23 February 1846. When a small child she accompanied her parents to California, the family settling in Marysville. Deceased came to St Helena more than 50 years ago. On 4 March 1868 she married A V Anderson. About 17 years ago Mr and Mrs Anderson went to live with their children who had established homes in other parts of the state. Some twelve years ago, Mr Anderson passed from this life and his remains were brought to St Helena for interment. On Monday all that was mortal of the late Mrs Anderson was laid to rest by the side of the remains of her husband. the funeral took place from the undertaking parlors of the J S Noble Co. Rev C A Owens officiating.
Deceased was a woman of high ideals and splendid character. She was a devout Christian and a great deal of her life was spent in religious work and the alleviation of the suffering of others. She was faithful to her Master and has now gone to her rewards.
