Ladonna Jean “Toni” Nelson, 79, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ladonna was born in Symsonia, Kentucky on September 11, 1940 to Herman and Murrel Whitis. She was a longtime member of Olivet Baptist Church and was very active in the life of the church until her health declined.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clark A. Nelson; her daughter, Melanie Nelson Dees, of Paducah; her sister, Jane Ann Alton (Edgar), of Reidland, Kentucky; her granddaughter, Ashley Dees,” the light of her grandma’s life”; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Whitis and Murrel Brown Whitis; her sisters, Lois Alene Courtney (Ted), Patsey Courtney (Granville), Betty Williams; her brothers, Clifton Brown Whitis (Virginia), Billy Whitis (Dorothy), James Whitis, Avery Whitis (Ruby), Truman Whitis (Jean Ann), Troy Whitis (Becky), and Jerry Whitis.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 P.M. Monday, October 21, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Gary Millrany officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
