Chet Strayer passed away

Residents of Martin and Bennett County were saddened this past week by the news of the death of Chester A. Strayer, which occurred Thursday, April 2nd at Hollywood, California.
Mr. Strayer had suffered from a long illness, having taken sick here last fall and was confined to his bed continuously until February, when he recovered sufficiently to be moved to California. He seemed to improve for a time after he went west, but took suddenly worse and only lived another week or so.
Chester married Edith (Eda) Honora Rhodes December 31, 1908 in Correctionville, Woodbury County,Iowa.
Mr. Strayer and his wife came to Bennett county about fifteen years ago from Wagner, South Dakota and have farmed her continuously since that time, but a few years ago they went to California to spend the winter and since that time have spent part of their time there each year. Besides the widow, one son Glenn who is a teacher in California; two brothers Roy of Martin and Harry of Wagner and two sisters, Mrs. Leatha Curry of Lake City, Iowa and Mrs. Ethel Troxell of Texas survive.
Services were held at the Wee Kirk of the Heather Chapel at Hollywood and the remains laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The many friends of the family extend sympathy in their hour of bereavement.

This information comes from Carol Strayer
Chester Arthur Strayer was the son of Perry & Rosa Ellen (Leinbaugh) Strayer and the grandson of Martin & Rachel (Raylla) Strayer.
