Sylvia Ann Vicars Jones (Honey) was surrounded by her family as she left this world for her eternal home with her savior Jesus Christ on October 10, 2019, at the age of 83. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Louise Youngquist (Oklahoma City), parents Melvin Lee Vicars, Sr. (California) and Betty Allen Brewer Vicars Paddock (Enid, OK), step-father Kenneth Paddock (Enid, OK), brothers Melvin Lee Vicars, Jr. (Houston, TX) and James Alan Vicars (Midwest City), step-brother John Paddock (Enid, OK), ex-husband Jerry Jones (Bethany), and niece Cindy Gates (Arkansas).

Sylvia is survived by her sister-in-laws, Jackie Vicars (Houston, TX) and Nancy Vicars (Midwest City), her two children, daughter Vicki and husband Rick Walk (Yukon) and son Robert Jones and Kathy Smathers (Bethany) and ex-wife Marcia Jones; six grandchildren who were the light of her life and named her “Honey,” Dirk Jones and ex-wife Stephany Jones (Bethany), Kristen Wickham and husband Matt (Piedmont), Dustin Jones and wife Nisrine (Little Rock, AR), Danielle Yazzie and husband Shane (Bethany), Nathan Walk and wife Abbie (Oklahoma City), Darian Jones (Bethany); nine great-grandchildren Skyler, Karlee Ann, Izabella, Leyla, Miah, Michael, Vayda, Olivia, and Jake. She is survived by nieces, Julie Fontenot, Catherine Smith and two nephews David Vicars, Christopher Vicars.

Sylvia was truly blessed with many dear friends. When she loved and cared about you it was totally. Too many friends to name but Gloria Yarbrough, Bilinda Baker and Linda Nicolai, were there in every way. Sylvia was born in Oklahoma City on July 12, 1936 to Melvin Lee Vicars, Sr. and Betty Allen Brewer Vicars. She graduated from Central High School in 1954. Sylvia worked at Gold Spot Dairy and retired from Seagate after 30 years. She used to tease that she just lived for the grandchildren, but the truth was she did. They were so loved and cherished by Honey! She was the most giving to anyone she knew or didn’t know. She would intentionally keep dollar bills in her purse to give to the needy. Honey would say, “They could be an angel in disguise.” Honey loved to plant flowers, read the newspaper and do the crossword puzzle every day. She loved her pets that kept her company. If you couldn’t keep your pet, everyone knew that Honey would say, “bring it over.” She was a good sport when it came to anything with her grandkids attending events, holidays and vacation. She was very patriotic and loved every person in a uniform. Her favorite music was “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and would blast The Beach Boys music in her car. Honey, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be greatly missed and celebrated for a long life well lived. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pets and People of Yukon or the American Cancer Society.
