August "Bud" Arnett
Age 89 of Owosso, formerly of Ovid, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Ashley Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10am Friday October 11, 2019 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Minister Terry Northcutt officiating. Burial will follow at Maple River Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday October 10 from 4pm to 8pm.
Bud was born November 5, 1929 in Mecosta, Michigan; the son of Ernest and Inez (Pike) Arnett.
He married Shirlee A. Friess in Owosso on July 15, 1950; she predeceased him on July 11, 2010.
Bud retired from General Motors Flint Truck and Bus in 1985 after 30 years of service and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ on M-21 where he served as an Elder for 25 years.
He enjoyed traveling and camping, loved his sweet rolls, pies and black jelly beans. Bud also loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing euchre and reading. He was a man of great faith and loved his Lord.
August is survived by his children Augie (Sallie) Arnett, Rick (Cindy) Arnett, Teena (Dan) Spencer, Cindy (Glenn) Aldrich, Joni (Ken) Lahmann and Beth Mills; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Shirlee; daughter Sheryl Ann Duffield and siblings Lee, David "Red" and Frieda Arnett.
