Services for Dr. Calhoun Harris Monroe were held at Kaster - Maxon & Futrel Downtown Chapel officiated by Rev. Edwin Chappell, the pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was entombed at Evergreen Mausoleum.

Dr. Monroe taught at several universities of Texas at El Paso and Midwestern University. She received her Ph.D. degree from Columbia University in New York. Mrs. Monroe was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church at El Paso. She belonged to the DAR, United Daughters of the Confederacy, American Legion Auxiliary, Pioneer Women and the El Paso Historic Society. She was a member of the Columbia University, the University of Texas in Austin and North Texas State University Alumni groups. Mrs. Monroe was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, B&PM Club, American Association of Retired Teachers.

Mrs. Monroe was a former resident of Electra and Wichita Falls, where her husband, Dr. Charles Monroe was a pioneer Electra physician. He preceded her in death.

Survived by one daughter - Mrs. Jack Lappe; one sister - Miss Floride Harris; one brother - E.B. Harris, Sr; three nephews - E.B. Harris, Jr., Martin Reese Harris, J.B. Burkhalter; one niece - Mary Loyd Banks.
