An "Angel of the Battlefield". Martha enlisted on July 1, 1862 and served with honor as a Union Army nurse. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Sophia Wonder. She is buried next to her husband John who served in the 8th Missouri Infantry. They had four children.

Died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Sherman Keck on Tuesday, Mrs. Morella Rebekah Bamford, aged 85 years 3 months and 22 days. Mrs. Bamford leaves besides her husband one daughter Mrs. Sherman Keck of Junction, one son Bum Bamford of Ceres, Cal., several grandchildren besides a large circle of friends. Funeral services were being held today at 1:30 PM at Miller's Chapel conducted by H.J. Bass. Internment in the IOOF Cemetery, west of Junction. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
