---Thomas Wayne Burton, age 84 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
---Born November 4, 1934 in Atlanta, Missouri, the son of Henry Olin and Lillian G. (Coleman) Burton.
---He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cleo, Kenneth, and Robert Burton; one sister, Faye Hughes; and two great nephews, Chad and Dane Martin.
---Survivors include one sister-in-law, Dorothy Burton of Macon, Missouri, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
---Tom was a 1952 graduate of Atlanta High School and was a part of a winning basketball team that went to state. He moved to La Plata in 1970 where he worked for Belt Fur and Wool for several years. He was a very faithful member of the La Plata Christian Church and the La Plata American Legion. Tom enjoyed gardening, bowling, watching ballgames, and traveling to see his nieces and nephews.
---Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata. Inurnment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, west of Atlanta, Missouri.
---Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m.
---In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Thomas Wayne Burton may be made to Hopewell Cemetery, La Plata American Legion, or La Plata Christian Church. They may be sent or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
