Despite the title of this section being "Bio", it appears most Find-A-Gravers use it for espousing their personal philosophy and as a bully-pulpit. So...here is MY Find-A-Grave philosophy:

Whoever said "the only sure things in life are death and taxes" got it only half-right. There are many people who never pay taxes, but death awaits us all. (Not being morbid; just factual.) MY version of that saying is that the only true things in life are that every person, living or dead, has a father and a mother. They may have never married nor had children or siblings, but all had a Mom & Dad. My goal, when entering and editing memorials, is to locate and link both parents to each other and to the individual being researched. Siblings, spouses and kids are bonuses.

Born in DC, raised in Northern Virginia.

Attended Braddock and Ravensworth elementary schools, Edgar Allan Poe Intermediate and Annandale "GO ATOMS" high schools. Graduated with the Class of 1974.

Enlisted in the US Navy on 31 Jan 1977, began boot camp at Great (Mistakes) Lakes IL on 14 Feb 1977.

Served in USS BAGLEY (FF 1069) - the "World's Finest Frigate" from June 1980 - June 1985.

Suffered through 40 one-month tours of recruiting duty in Leesburg, Va., from Sep 1985 - Jan 1989.

Served in USS JOUETT (CG 29) - the "World's Finest BattleCruiser" from Sep 1989 - May 1992.

Pre-Commissioned and served in USS COLE (DDG 67) - the US Navy's only "Super Dreadnought" from Jun 1995 - Dec 2001.

Retired in Norfolk, Va on 01 July 2003.

Moved to Randolph County, Missouri in August 2009.
